Coaching is always evolving, and with it comes new tools, fresh perspectives, and thought-provoking resources. In this edition of Odds and Ends, I’m sharing updates that caught my attention from groundbreaking books and AI-driven coaching tools to innovative approaches like asynchronous coaching. Whether you’re looking to deepen your practice, explore new ideas, or connect with fellow coaches, there’s plenty here to spark reflection and conversation.
- Richard Boyatzis’ new book, The Science of Change, is now available for 45% off. I appreciate his teachings and believe this will be a good book to help you understand how to support change in your clients.
- BetterUp has released an AI coaching tool that supposedly had 95% customer satisfaction. Wow. They worked on it for a long time before releasing it. It’s called Grow. On their website I see no mention of it. I guess this means you can’t access it unless you’re a client. I’ve been working on an AI coaching tool as well and will release it free on my site soon. Stay tuned for that as I’d like you to try it.
- Have you ever thought of doing your coaching asynchronously? Did you know that was even a thing? I recently watched an interview with two coaches who offer this to clients. One coach said he believes it’s even better than synchronous coaching because it allows clients to get in touch with you when something is really on their mind and you get to respond to them when you’re fully prepared to do so with your best thoughts. I’ve been getting nudges from a person who works for a voice-driven platform to join a LinkedIn Group that’s all about it. I don’t know that I’m ready to offer it just yet, but the idea is intriguing. What are your thoughts?
- I respect the writing of Greg Shove, CEO of Section, on AI. He wrote a recent article that struck me as quite useful in gathering my thoughts on the topic. Called Losing Our Minds to AI, it’s not about coaching per se, but you may see parallels with what we regularly ask clients to do – think more. You can find it here.
The coaching landscape is shifting quickly, offering us opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow alongside our clients. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these updates whether it’s a book you’re reading, an event you’re attending, or your take on AI and new coaching methods. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue supporting each other as we navigate the future of coaching together.
