The ICF recently released an article about the ROI of coaching. This is an important topic for buyers of coaching. Beyond the intangible benefits of feeling more confident and assured in certain situations, they also want proof that it’s working.
Here are some key statistics from the article:
- There is a strong correlation between coaching and increased employee engagement, with 72% of respondents in the 2023 ICF HCI Defining New Coaching Cultures report acknowledging this relationship.
- A global survey by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Association Resource Center report an average ROI of seven times the cost of employing a coach.
- A report from management consulting and investment banking firm FMI found that 87% of survey respondents agreed that executive coaching has a high return on investment (ROI).
These are statistics you should be proclaiming in your marketing materials so that buyers of coaching will be immediately more confident of what they are buying. As I write this, I am becoming convinced that I need to add a new page to my website that I’ve never seen before on any other coach’s website. It will be entitled The ROI of Executive Coaching. And on that page, I’ll have statistics like these with links to the underlying reports and data. You may want to do the same.
What I do have on my website now are 6 Case Studies outlining results certain clients have obtained through our work together. I’ll be sure to link to this page from the ROI of coaching page I’m going to build.
Here’s what we want buyers to know:
1. I’m trained, certified and credentialed.
2. I work in accordance with a Code of Ethics.
3. I have proof that my coaching helps clients gain real results.
4. I have statistics to share about the ROI or coaching from respected 3rd party sources.
This should increase a buyer’s interest in working with us.
By the way, the Gallup organization just shared the troubling statistic that employee engagement is now at a 10-year low.
If coaching can increase employee engagement, that may further boost the interest of buyers.
Do you have other statistics that support the ROI of coaching? Please share them with me.
